Getting started

Powering the machine

  1. Plug the AC adapter into the DC IN jack on the back of the unit.
  2. Plug the adapter into a wall outlet.
  3. Press Power (On/Standby) to turn the unit on.

Connecting microphones

  • Wireless microphones (included)
  • Wired microphones (optional): Plug into Mic 1 or Mic 2 (6.3mm jacks).
  • To adjust microphone volume:

Connecting to a TV or screen

  • Connect an HDMI cable (not included) from the unit’s HDMI port to an HDMI input on your TV.
  • On your TV, select the matching HDMI input.
  • Note: HDMI outputs video/lyrics only. Audio and microphones do not play through the TV.

Energy saving (Screen Saver / Auto Power System)

  • After about 15 minutes of inactivity, the unit may enter Screen Saver mode.
  • After additional inactivity, the unit may power off automatically.
  • Press Power (On/Standby) once to wake the unit.

Using the Singing Machine app

What is the Singing Machine app?

The built-in app lets you browse and play karaoke tracks directly on your machine. You can also manage your account and subscription.

  • Browse, queue, and play karaoke tracks

How to activate your free 1-month trial

  1. Open the Singing Machine Karaoke app on the home screen of your karaoke machine.
  2. If you see a welcome message about free songs, tap Continue.
  3. Tap Subscribe Now, or go to Account and select Login.
  4. Scan the QR on your TV or visit store.stingray.com/singingmachine/tv and enter the code shown on your TV.
  5. Select a plan that includes a 1-month free trial.
  6. Finish account setup and confirm checkout. Your trial starts automatically.

Playing karaoke using the app

  • Open the Singing Machine Karaoke app on the machine.
  • Follow the on-screen steps to sign in and select a song.
  • Lyrics appear on the unit’s touch screen (and on the TV if connected via HDMI).
  • Audio plays from the unit’s built-in speaker (or from external speakers if connected to Line Out).

Other ways to play karaoke

  • Bluetooth audio from other apps (YouTube, Spotify, etc.)
  • USB playback (play recorded files from a USB drive)
  • Line-In (AUX) for audio from another device (3.5mm cable not included)
  • CD/CD+G: Not supported on this model.

Common app-related issues

The app will not connect to the machine

  • Confirm the unit is connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Restart the unit.
  • If your network uses WPA3, try switching your router to WPA2.

No sound when using the app

  • Turn up Music Volume.
  • If using external speakers, confirm they are connected to Line Out and powered on.

Lyrics are not showing on the TV

  • Confirm the HDMI cable is firmly connected on both ends.
  • Confirm the TV is set to the correct HDMI input.

My free trial is not appearing

  • Make sure you selected a plan that includes the 1-month free trial.
  • Sign out and sign back in, then check Account.

General troubleshooting

The machine will not power on

  • Confirm the AC adapter is connected to DC IN and the wall outlet.
  • Try a different outlet.

Machine keeps turning off

If your iSM1080 is turning off when you are not using it, it may be the Screen Saver or Auto Power System (APS) energy-saving feature. You can adjust these settings in Wi‑Fi Settings under the Screensaver or Sleep options.

Microphones are not working

  • Wireless microphone: replace batteries (2 AAA) and confirm the microphone is powered on.
  • Wired microphone: confirm it is fully plugged into Mic 1 or Mic 2.
  • Increase Mic Volume.

No sound or distorted sound

  • Increase Music Volume.
  • If using Line-In, lower the volume on the connected device (recommended: about 1/3).

Bluetooth will not connect or keeps disconnecting

  • On your phone or tablet, forget the device and re-pair.
  • If prompted for a PIN, enter 0000.

Missing or broken parts

The box should include the microphones and AC Adaptor. If these parts are missing, here is the best way to solve the issue:

AC Adaptor

If the AC adapter was missing from the box, you have a few options. You can use a compatible adapter you already own, purchase a new one from an electronics retailer, or order a replacement directly from us.

If you choose to use a different power adapter, it is crucial that it meets the following technical requirements to avoid damaging your machine.

  • Output Voltage: 15V DC
  • Output Current (Amperage): 1.5A (or higher, e.g., 2A is also safe)
  • Polarity: Positive Center
