Getting started

  1. Open the protective cover over the connections on the back of the unit.
  2. Connect the included power cord to the unit and a nearby AC outlet.
  3. Press the power button to turn on the system.
  4. Follow the on-screen setup instructions. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter its password when prompted.
  5. Before use, install any available system update from System > Update to help prevent setup or performance issues.
  6. When setup is complete, choose an app or input from the touchscreen.

An internet connection is required for online apps and services. A separate account or subscription may be required, and availability and terms are set by each service.

System updates

Before using System 1 for the first time, connect it to Wi-Fi and check for a system update. Install any available update from System > Update. Updating before use is important and can help avoid setup or performance issues.

Using music and entertainment apps

  1. Connect the system to Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap an available app on the touchscreen to open it.
  3. Follow the app's instructions to sign in, choose content, and begin playback.

System 1 works with the Stingray Karaoke app and supports streaming services available on the system. Some services may require a separate account or subscription; availability and terms are set by each service provider.

Third-party apps are provided by their respective providers. Issues within a third-party app—such as sign-in, content availability, billing, or app functionality—are related to that app or service, not a fault with System 1. Contact the app provider for app-specific support.

Perfect Pitch and scoring

When used with the compatible Stingray app, System 1 supports Perfect Pitch and scoring for your performance. The system also supports AI vocal cancellation, lead-vocal removal, adjustable vocal effects and effect strength, and bass boost. App-dependent features may require internet access, an account, or a subscription; availability can vary by song and service. Follow the on-screen instructions to use these options.

Using the wireless microphones

Charge the microphones

  1. Connect the included USB Type-C cable to the charging dock and a compatible USB power source. The power adapter is not included.
  2. Place each microphone upright in the dock to charge. Allow about four hours for a full charge; the microphone indicator turns off when charging is complete.

The microphones provide approximately eight hours of operation per charge, depending on use. Their rechargeable batteries are not user-replaceable.

Turn on and use the microphones

  1. Turn on the main unit.
  2. Press the microphone's power button to turn it on.
  3. Use the microphone's volume buttons to adjust its level. The microphone controls can also control playback when the system is in supported Bluetooth or USB media modes.

System 1 supports up to four singers at once: use the two included wireless microphones together with up to two wired microphones connected to MIC 1 and MIC 2. The supported combination is two wireless plus two wired; you cannot connect four wireless microphones or four wired microphones at once. Wired microphones are not included.

Connecting a device via Bluetooth

  1. Turn on the system and select Bluetooth from the touchscreen.
  2. On your phone, tablet, or other audio device, turn on Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select SINGING MACHINE S1 from the list of available devices.
  4. If your device asks for a passcode, try 0000.
  5. Start playback on your device. Use the microphone's play/pause and skip buttons to control playback where supported.

Keep the Bluetooth device within 10 m (30 ft) of the system. If audio does not play, check that the connected device supports Bluetooth audio and that its audio output is set to System 1.

Using Auracast

Auracast lets the system broadcast audio to, or receive audio from, compatible Auracast devices. Traditional Bluetooth pairing is not required, but the receiving device must support Auracast.

Broadcast audio from the System 1

  1. Select Auracast on the touchscreen.
  2. Choose Broadcast Mode.
  3. Use the on-screen controls to enable the broadcast. You can optionally set a channel password to limit access.

Receive an Auracast broadcast

  1. Select Auracast, then choose Receiver Mode.
  2. Tap Scan and select a broadcast from the list.
  3. Enter the broadcast password if one is requested.

Using Line-In

You can play audio from a phone, tablet, computer, or other compatible device with a 3.5 mm audio cable (not included).

  1. Connect the cable to the device's audio output or headphone jack.
  2. Connect the other end to System 1's LINE IN jack on the back of the unit.
  3. Select Line In on the touchscreen.
  4. Start with the connected device's volume at about one-third, then adjust it as needed to avoid distortion.

Track-skip controls are not available when you play audio from an external device through Line-In.

Connecting the system to a TV

An HDMI cable (not included) can send video and lyrics to a compatible TV.

  1. Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the back of the System 1.
  2. Connect the other end to an HDMI input on your TV.
  3. On the touchscreen, open System > Display and select the HDMI output option. Choose whether HDMI audio is on or off, as needed.

Bluetooth, Line-In, and microphone audio play through the System 1 and are not sent to the TV. TV audio behavior can vary by model and settings; refer to your TV's instructions if needed.

Playing media from a USB drive

  1. Make sure the USB drive is connected to the USB-C port on the back of the unit.
  2. Select Media on the touchscreen, then choose the USB music or video option.
  3. Select a file to play. Use the microphone's playback and skip buttons where supported.

The system supports FAT32 and NTFS USB drives, with compatibility up to 256 GB. File compatibility may vary. To delete a file, press and hold its name on the touchscreen and follow the prompt.

Recording a performance

  1. Start music playback.
  2. Tap the touchscreen to display the recording control, then tap it to begin recording.
  3. Tap the recording timer to stop. Choose whether to save or delete the recording.
  4. If you save it, choose internal storage or a USB drive. To save to USB, connect the drive before choosing that location.
  5. Enter a name for the recording if prompted.

To find saved recordings, open Media > Recordings and select internal storage or USB.

Adjusting sound and lighting

  • Music and microphone volume: Use the main volume control to select the music or microphone volume option, then adjust the level. The microphone volume control applies to both included microphones.
  • Perfect Pitch: Adjust the pitch/key of a song to better suit your voice in the compatible Stingray app.
  • Scoring: Get a performance score when using supported songs and app features.
  • Voice effects: Choose from multiple effects and adjust effect strength.
  • AI vocal cancellation and lead-vocal removal: Reduce or remove lead vocals where supported; results vary by song.
  • Bass boost: Adjust the bass from the on-screen sound controls.
  • Speaker lights: Press the LIGHTS button repeatedly to cycle through available light modes.

Troubleshooting

No power

  • Press the power button and confirm the unit is not in standby.
  • Check that the power cord is firmly connected to the unit and the outlet.
  • Try a different wall outlet.
  • If the issue continues, turn the unit off, disconnect it from power, wait briefly, reconnect it, and try again.

No sound

  • Make sure the correct input or app is selected.
  • Raise the music volume on the System 1 and, for Bluetooth or Line-In playback, on the connected device.
  • For Line-In, check that the cable is connected to the correct jacks and playback is active on the external device.

No sound from a microphone

  • Charge the microphone and turn it on.
  • Check the microphone volume on the main unit and on the microphone.
  • For a wired microphone, check that it is fully inserted into MIC 1 or MIC 2.

Bluetooth pairing or playback problems

  • Confirm Bluetooth is selected on the system and enabled on your phone or tablet.
  • Select SINGING MACHINE S1 from your device's Bluetooth list. If prompted for a passcode, try 0000.
  • Disconnect and reconnect if needed. Check that your device is using the karaoke system as its audio output.
  • Keep devices within 10 m (30 ft) and move other nearby Bluetooth devices away while pairing.

Third-party app problems

If a third-party app has trouble signing in, loading content, or playing a song, check your internet connection and the app's account or subscription, then contact the app provider. Issues within third-party apps are related to the app or its service, not a fault with the System 1 hardware.

USB files will not play

  • Confirm the USB drive uses FAT32 or NTFS and is within the system's supported capacity.
  • Try another compatible file or USB drive. Files may be damaged or unsupported.
  • Make sure the drive is fully connected to the USB port.

Unable to connect to Wi-Fi or the internet

  • Move the system within 10 m (32.8 ft) of the router and check the Wi-Fi signal.
  • Check the network name and password, then try connecting again.
  • Confirm the router has an active internet connection. If the unit connects to Wi-Fi but apps cannot access the internet, restart the router and check its settings.
  • Check that the date and time are correct; enable automatic date and time if available.
  • If the router uses WPA3 and the connection still fails, check the router's compatibility guidance or contact support. Avoid weakening your network security unless advised by your network administrator.

Unable to save a recording

  • Check that the selected storage location has available space.
  • If saving to USB, insert a compatible USB drive before selecting USB as the save location.
