An internet connection is required for online apps and services. A separate account or subscription may be required, and availability and terms are set by each service provider.
Using music and entertainment apps
- Connect System 1 Max to Wi-Fi.
- Tap an available app on the touchscreen to open it. Follow its instructions to sign in, choose content, and begin playback.
Available apps and features may change. Some services require a separate account or subscription.
Third-party apps and services are provided by their respective providers. If an app has a problem with sign-in, subscription, billing, content availability, or app functionality, contact that app or service provider. These app-specific issues are related to the app or service and do not necessarily indicate a problem with the System 1 Max. If several apps are affected, check the system's Wi-Fi connection and install any available system update.
Perfect Pitch, scoring, and vocal features
With the compatible Stingray app, System 1 Max supports Perfect Pitch and scoring for supported songs and features. The system also includes vocal effects and a Vocal Remover control for reducing lead vocals. Vocal-removal results can vary by song. Follow the app and on-screen instructions to access these options; app features may require an internet connection, an account, or a subscription.
Using the wireless microphones
Charge the microphones
- Connect the included USB Type-C cable to the charging dock and a compatible USB power source. A USB power adapter is not included.
- Place each microphone upright in the dock. Allow about four hours for a full charge; the microphone indicator turns off when charging is complete.
The microphones can operate for approximately eight hours per charge, depending on the selected function. Their rechargeable batteries are not user-replaceable.
Turn on and use the microphones
- Turn on the main unit.
- Lift the microphones from the charger and press the power button on the bottom of each microphone.
- Use the microphone controls to adjust microphone volume, play or pause supported playback, and skip tracks in Bluetooth or USB modes.
The included wireless microphones connect to the system automatically when it is on. Their working distance is up to 10 m (32.8 ft) in an open space. If a microphone has no audio for an extended period, its connection may turn off; turn it on again and press the unit's microphone button if needed.
System 1 Max supports up to four singers at once: use the two included wireless microphones plus up to two wired microphones connected to MIC 1 and MIC 2. Four wireless microphones or four wired microphones cannot be used at the same time. Wired microphones are not included.
Connecting a device via Bluetooth

Start with the external device's volume at one-third or lower to help prevent distortion. Track-skip controls are not available for external audio played through Line-In.
Connect an external speaker
Use a 3.5 mm audio cable (not included) to connect the System 1 Max LINE OUT jack to the Line-In jack on a compatible external speaker. Refer to the speaker's instructions for its connection and setup.
Connecting the system to a TV
An HDMI cable (not included) can send video and lyrics to a compatible TV for a larger display.
- Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the back of System 1 Max.
- Connect the other end to an HDMI input on your TV.
- On the touchscreen, open System > Display and select the HDMI video output option. Choose whether HDMI audio is on or off.
Bluetooth, Line-In, and microphone audio play through the main unit and are not output to the TV. HDMI audio performance may vary by TV model and settings.
Playing media from a USB drive
- Connect a compatible USB drive to the USB-C port on the back of the unit.
- Select Media on the touchscreen, then choose USB Music & Video.

- Enter a name for the recording if prompted.
Recordings are saved as MP3 files. To find them, open Media > Recordings and select internal storage or USB.
Adjusting sound, lighting, and speaker orientation
- Music and microphone volume: Use the volume control to choose music volume or microphone volume, then adjust the level. The main-unit microphone volume setting applies to both microphones.
- Vocal Remover: While music is playing, open the on-screen sound controls and select Vocal Remover. Choose an available removal level. Results vary by song.
- Voice effects: Select Effects on the screen to browse the available vocal effects and adjust them.
- Speaker lights: Press the LIGHTS button repeatedly to cycle through the built-in lighting modes.
- Speaker orientation: The upper and lower sections can each rotate up to 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise. Do not force them past this limit.
Troubleshooting
No power
- Press the power button and confirm the system is not in standby.
- Check that the power cord is firmly connected to the unit and the outlet.
- Try a different wall outlet. If the issue continues, turn the unit off, disconnect it from power, wait briefly, reconnect it, and try again.
No sound
- Confirm the correct app or input is selected and playback is active.
- Raise the music volume on System 1 Max and, for Bluetooth or Line-In playback, on the connected device.
- For Line-In, confirm the cable is connected to the correct jacks and the external device is playing audio.
No sound from a microphone
- Charge the wireless microphone and make sure it is turned on.
- Check the microphone volume on the unit and on the microphone.
- For a wired microphone, make sure it is fully inserted into MIC 1 or MIC 2.
- Move the wireless microphone closer to the unit and turn it on again.
Bluetooth pairing or playback problems
- Confirm Bluetooth is selected on the system and enabled on your phone or tablet.
- Select SINGING MACHINE S1MAX from your device's Bluetooth list. If prompted for a passcode, enter 0000.
- Move the devices closer, disconnect and reconnect, and check that your device is sending audio to the system.
USB files will not play or a recording will not save
- Confirm the drive uses FAT32 or NTFS and is no larger than 256 GB.
- Try a supported MP3 or MP4 file and another compatible USB drive if available.
- To save a recording to USB, insert the drive before selecting USB as the save location. Check that the selected storage has available space.
Unable to connect to Wi-Fi or the internet
- Move the system closer to the router; a distance of about 10 m (32.8 ft) or less is recommended.
- Check the Wi-Fi network name and password, then try connecting again.
- Confirm that the router has an active internet connection and that the system's date and time are correct.
- If the system connects to Wi-Fi but apps cannot access the internet, restart the router and check its settings. Some network configurations, including certain WPA3 settings, may affect connection; consult your router's compatibility guidance.
Third-party app problems
If one third-party app has a sign-in, subscription, content, or playback issue, check your internet connection and account, then contact the app provider. An issue limited to a third-party app or service does not necessarily indicate a problem with the System 1 Max.
